Botulinum Toxin Wrinkle-Reduction Injections

What is Botulinum Toxin Injections?

As we age, we develop lines and wrinkles on our face that most of us dislike. These lines appear because various muscles contract to form different facial expressions. Over time these expression lines become deeper and are even there when our face is at rest. Botulinum toxin treatment smooths the skin by relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles and lines when you frown (your cranky lines), or when you smile (laugh lines), around your mouth and your eyes (crow’s feet).

Botulinum toxin injections are also used as an effective treatment for excessive sweating called hyperhidrosis.

What does the anti-wrinkle injections treatment involve?

Your very first treatment will require a consultation with our Cosmetic Nurse and Dr John who will discuss with you the areas of concern and your desired outcome.

The treatment involves the injection of a solution of botulinum toxin. Very small amounts of the solution, using extremely tiny needles are injected precisely into the offending facial muscles. The injections relax the muscle eliminating and softening facial lines, giving you a rejuvenated fresh look to your face.

The injections are quick and simple and take about 10 minutes, allowing you to resume your daily activities straight away.

Results of Botulinum Toxin Injections

Generally, results will occur within 3-4 days and the full result is visible within 10 to 14 days.

The effects of the treatment usually last up to 4 months, and then gradually decrease over time. however, everybody is different!

Having regular treatments will help improve the longevity of the effects and will also reduce the static wrinkles (those present when your face is at rest).

Potential side effects

There are minimal side effects and are most commonly limited to the actual site of injection. These include pain, stinging, redness and bruising at the injection site and are temporary. Itching and headaches can be experienced, however, as with any treatment everyone is different.

Combining this treatment with other cosmetic treatments such as Clear and Brilliant Lasering and dermal fillers which restore lost volume, will further enhance, rejuvenate and refresh your looks.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to enhance facial features that are prone to volume loss as we age. The areas such as the brows, temples, cheeks, lips and jawline are the main areas of concern and a little help from dermal fillers can restore those lovely curves and contours, giving us a refreshed and rejuvenated face.

A dermal filler is a smooth injectable gel. It is made from the same naturally occurring sugar complex called Hyaluronic Acid(HA) that is found in the skin. The Hyaluronic Acid molecule attracts and holds water and combines with collagen and elastin thereby providing skin with structure and elasticity.

Dermal fillers “plump up” and re-volumes areas that have lost volume over time, or are simply used for enhancement by adding volume to the desired area.

The procedure is simple, takes very little time and most patients will resume their everyday activities straight away.

What does dermal filler injections involve?

Your very first treatment will require a consultation with our cosmetic nurse injector and Dr John who will discuss with you the areas of concern and your desired outcome.

The dermal fillers are administered as injections by a trained professional, our cosmetic nurse injector.

The actual procedure should take about 15 to 30 minutes, however this is dependent on the number of areas that require attention.

The discomfort from the needle varies from person to person and also the area being injected. Some of the dermal fillers contain an anaesthetic which helps with the discomfort.

The results of Dermal Fillers?

You will see the results immediately, however, there will most likely be some redness, firmness and a little swelling at the injection site. This will resolve over the next few days.

The superior product that we use, has advanced technology that slows the breakdown of the hyaluronic acid which means results can last up to a year.

Potential side effects

Many patients do not experience any side effects. The most commonly reported side effects are from the actual injection site. These include redness, swelling, pain, firmness bruising, itching or discolouration. In most cases these effects are temporary and resolve within a few days.

Combining this treatment with other cosmetic treatments such as anti-wrinkle treatments, Clear + Brilliant Lasering and or Platelet Rich Plasma, will further enhance the results.
