Eyelid and Brow Surgery: Simple Ways to Look Younger for Longer

None of us like the appearance of aging – but what can we do about it? With so many different cosmetic procedures available, it can be daunting trying to find the right solution. Cosmetic injections are very good for many things. They are not permanent, however, and do have limitations. So what else can you do if you don’t feel ready for a full face lift yet? Eyelid and brow surgery may be the answers you need.

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery (or to give it its technical name, blepharoplasty) corrects the appearance of sagging or drooping eyelids above and below your eyes. This procedure can reduce excess skin, fine lines and fat excess in the lids, with lasting effect.

As we age, the skin around the eyes stretches and loses its natural elasticity. Also, excess tissue and fat can build up in and around the eyelids. This creates a less youthful appearance, with the upper eyelids appearing uneven and droopy, and “bags” appearing below the eyes. The result is that we look older and more tired – and in some cases, drooping eyelids can even obscure our peripheral vision.

Eyelid surgery is a simple way of correcting these problems. It is not as invasive as many other cosmetic treatments, and noticeable results can be seen within two months of the procedure.

The benefits of eyelid surgery include:

  • A rejuvenated, more youthful appearance
  • No more bags and wrinkles
  • Smoother, more defined eyelids
  • Improved line of vision
  • Increased confidence and self-esteem

The results are effective and long-lasting, while subtle enough that only you will know the secret behind your youthful looks!

What is brow lift surgery?

A brow lift is a highly effective operation to lift, and importantly, reshape the brow. It can also reduce forehead lines. It creates a more youthful appearance by tightening and lifting the skin around the brow and forehead via small incisions behind the hairline. A brow lift is ideal for smoothing out wrinkles and frown lines in the forehead and correcting the “drooping” effect that can happen to the brow as we age.

While many people now use cosmetic injections to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in the forehead, these options are not permanent, although when done well, they can be very effective. Brow lifting is a restoration of anatomical position and is long-lasting. It may reset the anatomy, allowing patients to forego injectables completely or enabling them to be more effective.

It’s important to remember that brow lift surgery is still a surgical procedure – it will be performed under general anaesthetic and you won’t be able to go home until at least the following day. But, the recovery time is generally less than three weeks, with full, incredible results being seen within three months.

Some of the benefits of a brow lift are:

  • A smoother, younger-looking forehead and brow
  • No more wrinkles and frown lines
  • A tighter, lifted brow
  • A happier, more relaxed appearance
  • Long-term, effective results

Aging often has a negative effect on our self-esteem. A brow lift is one of the easiest ways to restore self-confidence and pride in our appearance. It can also provide a wealth of new opportunities, as looking happier and more relaxed makes you more approachable, both socially and at work.
