Breast Reduction

Large breasts may cause back and neck pain, obstruct physical activities, or limit wardrobe choices. With breast reduction surgery, Dr. Newton can bring the breasts down to a more comfortable and manageable size that’s better suited to your body.

The Procedure

Similarly to the breast lift procedure, a breast reduction involves Dr. Newton making an incision along the base of the breast and around the nipple, removing excess skin and tissue as appropriate, and then relocating the nipple and closing the incision. When appropriate, Dr. Newton uses liposuction techniques to remove fat from the breast. Occasionally this can be an alternative way of doing a breast reduction.

Patients are generally able to return to work after two weeks and to all normal activities after six weeks. Bouncy activity will be out for a while. Naturally a firm supportive bra must be worn in the recovery period. Your own common sense is also vitally important.

Breast reduction is one of the most common and rewarding operations Dr. Newton does. You will feel so much more comfortable and will be able to do so much more.

Breast reduction is a rebatable operation for women who have symptoms or disability related to their having large breasts.

Risks related to breast reduction are rare. They include loss of nipple sensation, skin or breast tissue not surviving and compromise of breast feeding. There is no cosmetic surgeon in Australia more committed to the safety, beauty, and satisfaction of his patients than Dr. John Newton, and you can be assured you are in the best hands to reduce the chance of these risks as much as possible.
